"spirited away"
an animated japaneese motion picture, distributed by way of disney....
this movie, i think, provides an excellent view into the 'asian psyche'.....
hard to watch with my western sensabliities....alot of things that seem absolutly
'random' to my united states of american mindset.

"lost in translation"
this was one of the worst, if not the worst, movie ive ever seen!!
i liked virgin suicides and love bill murray and saw that sophia coppola
won an oscar for best orginal screen play and heard all the rave reviews
but i must tell you, THE EMPEOR WEARS NO CLOTHES.
man, it must be nice to be the daughter of the great fracis ford coppolla...so
you can churn out lame movies and get critical acclaim! people would not
have "liked" this movie if it wasnt by a woman and by the daughter of a
great film director.
im sorry to say it but its just true.
this movie is facil, the pacing is painfully slow....however the movie isnt
racist as some claim...its just terrible.
i can now see why spike jonez and sophia coppola divorced....he makes
goold movies like adaptation and jackass (real art!) and she makes boring
psuedo-intellectual crap! that everybody says is 'art' becasue it is boring.
what is w/ this phenom. that if s.thing is boring then it must be artistic!!?
give me a fucking break!!
i was happy to see this movie got alot of bad reviews on amazon.com
check out this one:
"I understand that a lot of people liked this movie, but I honestly believe half of them are lying in order to impress their peers or conform to their warped state of mind. Believe it or not, there are a lot of followers in this world, and it annoys me to see so many people lie in regards to what they thought about a movie that really wasn't that good. If anyone else had made this movie and there was no marketing budget behind it, the movie would have been killed and buried like it deserves to be. As I said in the title: this was nothing more than a lot of good work put in to a bad movie. "
contrast the above to this one:
"Sophia Coppola mentioned Antonioni, Godard and a few other master filmmaker's works as inspirations during her screenwriting. Now, most of the people "reviewing" this film here on Amazon don't even know who those people are. This ain't 50 FIRST DATES folks (Steve Golin and Anonymous Content, you should hide your heads), this is Art with a capital "A." You either see beauty in Modigliani or you don't. As with the successful films of Antonioni, Godard, Fellini and Bergman among many others, LOST is a sophisticated film for a sophisticated palate. It is also a film for those who know what love is. It is warm and wise and human. Like all truly great films, this is a haunting work that has stayed with me."
and to that comment i say the i have heard of those directors and havent
seen 50 first dates and i still think this movie was a peice of crap and was
a/o as far away from art as it gets!!
check them out, they are quite funny.
sorry sophia. this movie sucked a big one....go back to the drawing board..
